Gioachino Rossini's life is full of funny and original anecdots, first of all his birthdate: february 29!

When he wrote the six "sonate a quattro", he was 12 and he finished to compose them in three days when he was at the double bassist Triossi's house.

Rossini wrote about the sonatas: "the sonatas were very bad performed by Triossi double bass, Morini (Triossi's cousin) first violin, his brother cellist and by me as second violin, I was, in truth, the less bad".

The Quartetto Rossini exactly takes the name from this unusual formation,  it is not the classic string quartet  with the viola, and executes moreover baroque repertoire of sonate a tre for two violini and basso continuo, duetti  of Rossini, Viotti, Boccherini etc and various chamber music adding the  flute or the oboe for the  Mozart quartets, where Glauco Bertagnin plays the viola.
The Quartetto Rossini offers also some programs with duets for two violins and double bass and cello.

The current formation of the Quartetto Rossini has already to its assets concerts in Italy and abroad.
